The 1985 IROC-Z Camaro Chevrolet Concept Car
If anyone has information on this car, please feel free to email Jeff.
Here is my spin on this car. Around 1984/5 Chevrolet was set to roll out the new IROC-Z's. But back in the R&D Prototypes labs, the bowtie guys were busy developing the next generation of IROC-Z. They event went as far as building one of these cars. I have spoken to Brent Biddlecomb who actually saw this car. See Brents comments below. Some of the information you see below was provided by him. It is my opinion that based on the immense popularity of the IROC-Z, Chevrolet decided to leave the car as it was with only minor modifications from year to year. What you see below was developed in 1984/5 and slated for introduction as the 1988 model. Interestingly enough, the Pontiac Firechicken/Trans AM would inherit a lot of the features in its newly released cars in 1988 and beyond. Read on. Pretty wild stuff.
From Brent Biddlecomb, Jeff - Just a little FYI on the "Prototype" you found. Chevrolet brought that car out to our Camaro show twice. It's bright yellow with yellow Ronal wheels, and black interior with yellow piping. It's only a 3.1L V6 car. The entire hood is a one piece lift off. Kinda a neat car to look at in person, but there's no way that it could go to production.
