Fuel Mixture Issues


My question is my 1988 iroc 5.0 automatic convertible is running real rich I dont know the specific number or calculation to give you but you can smell it and I dont get real good gas mileage plus every now an then a code 45 pops up meaning running rich everything is brand new from plugs, wires, ox/sensor,24 lb injectors, msd ignition 6-al,high performance crane cam 208-218 dur at 050,ported plenum, air foil, k/n filters, accel coil, fuel pressure regulator more thing can you tell me what my horse power might be ? my track times are 14.4 at 95 mph 2.28 60 ft at 65 degrees. these times remain the same even after I put a torque converter in 2200 flash stall and ams oil tranny fluid explain this please. thank you 


Have you tried replacing the Engine Control Computer. I've gone through
about three of these things, each presenting bizarre problems that
couldn't be solved by any other means. You might have also have gotten a bad new O2 sensor which has the same problem as the one replaced. Make sure the signal from the O2 sensor is varying its voltage after the
computer goes into closed loop operation. That happened to me as well.
If that doesn't work, you might have a vacuum leak somewhere. Spraying some soapy water onto the vacuum lines and fittings might reveal a possible leak, which might be causing false readings to the ECM (Engine Control Module)

A 305 is designed to run on 19lb injectors unless he has a custom chip( and i dont mean a 100$ everyday joe superchip) its gonna run rich a well built 350 will run rich on 24lb injectors without the custom tuning. for a quick fix put an adjustable fule pressure regulator on it and turn the pressure way dont not the best fix but it will help
